I'm back!!

Okay, so I've been MIA in the off season. I've spent the last few months doing some contract work for The Oklahoman and shooting almost weekly for LOOK@OKC.

Now that wedding season is starting to get going again, I plan to starting to post a lot more than I did last year. Those posts will cover weddings and wedding-related sessions, workshops I attend and maybe the occasional concert. Also, because I'm often asked by friends and family for recommendations and what I think about certain cameras and photo gear, I also plan to post those things for anyone who may be interested.

Stay tuned and enjoy!

Always learning

I attended some workshops in Dallas this week that were part of the WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) Road Trip series.

The workshop speakers included a portrait photographer from Phoenix, a wedding photographer from Long Island, another portrait photographer from Iowa and a Photoshop guru from Hawaii.

WPPI will host an even bigger event I plan to attend in Las Vegas in March. I'm looking forward to implementing some of the new techniques I learn this week and what I will learn in March into future jobs.

Curtis and Jennifer

Curtis and Jennifer got married on a Saturday afternoon at The Bridge church in Mustang, Oklahoma. The two of them, as well as their families, were extremely easy to work with and we all had a good time before, during and after the ceremony.

A lot of time and effort went into the decorations for the ceremony and the reception, both at the church, and the results we got in the photos showed that it was well worth the hard work Curtis and Jennifer's family and friends put into making their day as beautiful as it could be.

I wish the two of them the best of luck and hope to work with them again.

Nate and Lisa... post wedding

Nate and Lisa recently elected to do what a lot of couples are doing now... have photos taken after their wedding. It's a really good idea because they have a lot more options for settings besides than the church or chapel where they had their ceremony.

We started out at the Myriad Gardens in downtown OKC, and then had a blast wandering around for another two hours stopping to take pictures wherever we felt like doing them... including in a few in fountain. One of those shots can be found in the "Wedding Party" gallery at www.paulriedl.com.

Nate and Lisa

Nate and Lisa were married in a gorgeous evening ceremony at Creekside Chapel in Edmond, OK. The reception was also held at Creekside.

The couple and their families were very laid back, everything was well organized and the entire event went off without a hitch.

As with all of the couples I work with, I considered Nate and Lisa more friends than clients by the time their wedding day came to an end.

Cole's Garden Bridal Show

I had a booth in the OKBride bridal show on Sunday at Cole's Garden. The guys at OKBride did a great job organizing and promoting the event, and had a good variety of wedding vendors there. The traffic was higher than I expected and I got a lot of good leads. My site traffic has also increased.

I also plan to be at the bridal show on Sunday, September 27th at the Marriott on Northwest Expressway. If you're there, be sure to stop by and say hi!

Josh and Rachel

I shot Josh and Rachel's wedding Saturday at Beth Haven Baptist Church in south Oklahoma City. It was a beautiful ceremony where the bride surprised the groom by singing to him.

Both the couple and their parents were great to work with before and during the ceremony, and again at the reception afterward at Embassy Suites in Norman.

Adrian from Nexus Productions was their DJ. He's entertaining and easy to work with if you haven't booked someone yet.
